How long have you been involved with Special Olympics?
10 years.
How did you first get involved with Special Olympics and how has it changed your life?
I first joined my local powerlifting club, then entered competitions and met new people, continued my training, and got stronger.
What is a challenge or barrier that you have overcome?
Now I’m more confident to try new things, because my coaches have helped me learn that I can do more.
What has been your favourite memory with Special Olympics?
Winning a bronze medal at the Special Olympics Canada Summer Games and winning a bronze medal at the Special Olympics Canada Winter Games.
What has participating in Special Olympics taught you?
Special Olympics has taught me the importance of being on time, cooperating and listening.
What does being part of Special Olympics Team Canada mean to you and what is your goal for Turin?
It feels so good to be a member of Special Olympics Team Canada! My goal is to race well and beat my personal best.
What do you want people to know about athletes with intellectual and developmental disabilities?
We can compete! And we are good.
