How long have you been involved with Special Olympics?

I have been a Special Olympics athlete for 3 years.

How did you first get involved with Special Olympics and how has it changed your life?

I joined the cross-country skiing team 3 years ago. I made some new friends and improved my social skills.

What is a challenge or barrier that you have overcome?

A challenge I have overcame was staying overnight without my parents when I went to the Special Olympics National Games in Calgary. I have learned to be more independent.

What has been your favourite memory with Special Olympics?

Winning a gold medal at my first National game! And I made new friends.

What has participating in Special Olympics taught you?

The importance of encouraging and helping others.

What does being part of Special Olympics Team Canada mean to you and what is your goal for Turin?

I am proud to be part of Team Canada and to represent my country. My goal is to make new friends and experience a new country. I want to do my best and hopefully win a medal.

What do you want people to know about athletes with intellectual and developmental disabilities?

We are good teammates and we enjoy sports just like everyone else.

What would you say to someone thinking of getting involved in Special Olympics?

You should do it, it's good for everyone and you will make new friends.
