How long have you been involved with Special Olympics?

I have been involved with Special Olympics since 2019.

How did you first get involved with Special Olympics and how has it changed your life?

My first experience with Special Olympics was in 2007 when I went to a track meet down in Vancouver, and I became more active and made many connections with other athletes from all over Canada.

What is a challenge or barrier that you have overcome?

Travelling without family. I learned that I am a lot braver than I thought I was!

What has been your favourite memory with Special Olympics?

My favourite memory with Special Olympics has been keeping in touch with the people I met at my first ever competitions.

What has participating in Special Olympics taught you?

Good sportsmanship and perseverance.

What does being part of Special Olympics Team Canada mean to you and what is your goal for Turin?

I am very proud and privileged to be on Special Olympics Team Canada. My goal is to represent my country to the best of my ability.

What do you want people to know about athletes with intellectual and developmental disabilities?

We train just as hard as any other athlete.

What would you say to someone thinking of getting involved in Special Olympics?

You will meet new people and make lifelong connections.
