How long have you been involved with Special Olympics?

I have been a Special Olympics athlete for 12 years.

I first got involved with bowling. Then, when I was at the ski hill I saw other Special Olympics athletes training so I joined them.

What is a challenge or barrier that you have overcome?

Thanks to Special Olympics I am not as shy and not as afraid to try new things.

What has been your favourite memory with Special Olympics?

Meeting a very good friend still to this day from bowling. Learning how to down hill ski and being a part of the Special Olympics National Games in Calgary, and bringing home a few medals.

What has participating in Special Olympics taught you?

More confidence and more mature.

What does being part of Special Olympics Team Canada mean to you and what is your goal for Turin?

Very proud to represent Canada. I hope to do well, have fun, meet new friends, and bring home a medal.

What do you want people to know about athletes with intellectual and developmental disabilities?

It’s about abilities. If you push and try everyone can succeed at something they enjoy.
