How long have you been involved with Special Olympics?
I have been a Special Olympics athlete for 8 years.
How did you first get involved with Special Olympics and how has it changed your life?
My parents enrolled me and it has been a great experience and I love it.
What is a challenge or barrier that you have overcome?
Being involved with Special Olympics has expanded the types of food I eat…I slowly tried new food and found that some I really liked.
What has been your favourite memory with Special Olympics?
Skiing at the National and Provincial levels and winning gold medals…really enjoyed skiing at the Special Olympics Winter Games when Thunder Bay was the host.
What has participating in Special Olympics taught you?
Hard work pays off and practice makes progress and helps you improve.
What does being part of Special Olympics Team Canada mean to you and what is your goal for Turin?
It is very cool and I hope to win a Gold medal for Canada and my team!
What do you want people to know about athletes with intellectual and developmental disabilities?
We can do just about anything.
What would you say to someone thinking of getting involved in Special Olympics?
Do it…play, enjoy and get involved.
