How long have you been involved with Special Olympics?

7 years.

How did you first introduced to the movement and what got you hooked?

I was introduced to the Special Olympics movement by my brother, who is an athlete. Watching his incredible growth and success sparked my commitment and passion for supporting athletes of all abilities.

How has Special Olympics impacted your life?

Being involved with Special Olympics has been life changing. It’s given me a deeper appreciation for resilience and perseverance, inspired by the athletes I work with. I’ve grown both personally and professionally, learning from their determination and joy in overcoming challenges.

What is your favourite part about your role on the team?

My favorite part of my role is seeing the athletes grow and develop, both in skill and confidence. Watching them reach new milestones and celebrate their achievements is incredibly rewarding.

What is your proudest moment with Special Olympics?

My proudest moment was seeing my brother win silver at the Special Olympics World Winter Games Austria 2017. Witnessing his hard work pay off on the world stage was unforgettable and filled me with pride.

What does being a part of Special Olympics Team Canada mean to you and what is your goal for Turin?

Being part of Special Olympics Team Canada is an immense honour—it means representing an incredible community of athletes who inspire me every day. My goal for Turin is to support our athletes in reaching their full potential and to help them have a memorable, rewarding experience on the world stage.

What unique skills or experiences do you bring to your role as a coach, mission staff or team leadership and what drives you to support and inspire the athletes every day?

I bring a unique perspective as both a coach and family member of a Special Olympics athlete. My firsthand experience of the impact these Games have on athletes’ lives drives me to support and inspire them every day. I focus on fostering confidence, resilience, and joy in each athlete, knowing that every achievement, big or small, contributes to their growth and success.

What would you say to someone who is considering volunteering with Special Olympics?

I’d say go for it—it’s one of the most rewarding experiences you’ll ever have. Volunteering with Special Olympics gives you the chance to make a meaningful impact, be inspired daily, and witness the incredible resilience and joy of the athletes. It’s more than just volunteering; it’s joining a community that celebrates every individual’s potential.
