We are heartbroken to share the passing of Jordan Stevenson, a proud athlete from Special Olympics Saskatchewan and a beloved member of Special Olympics Team Canada 2025.

Jordan was set to represent Canada in speed skating at the Special Olympics World Winter Games in Turin, Italy this March, proudly competing for his province and his country on the world stage. His dedication to his sport, his teammates, and his community made him an incredible ambassador for Special Olympics — not only in Saskatchewan but across Canada.

Jordan’s impact went far beyond his achievements on the ice. His kindness, positivity, and team spirit left a lasting impression on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.

Jordan embodied the very best of Special Olympics — his passion for sport was matched only by his kindness, positivity, and the support he showed his teammates. He represented Saskatchewan with pride and was a role model for athletes across the province. Our entire Special Olympics Saskatchewan community is grieving this heartbreaking loss alongside Jordan’s family and friends.

On behalf of all of Special Olympics Team Canada, I want to express our deepest condolences to Jordan’s family, friends, teammates, and coaches. Jordan was a valued teammate and a bright presence on our team — always bringing heart, determination, and a positive spirit to everything he did. His absence will be deeply felt in Turin, and I know his teammates will carry his spirit with them.

Jordan recently shared his own thoughts on the power of sport, saying:

Sport is something everyone should be able to do. Sport isn’t about getting to the highest level; it’s about having fun doing what you’re doing.

That joyful spirit and love for sport defined Jordan as an athlete and as a friend — and it’s how he will always be remembered.

Special Olympics Saskatchewan and Special Olympics Team Canada are working together to support Jordan’s family, teammates, coaches, and the broader Special Olympics community as we all grieve this tragic loss.

We are forever grateful for the time we shared with Jordan and for all the joy, inspiration, and friendship he brought into our lives. His memory will live on in the hearts of everyone who knew him.
