How long have you been involved with Special Olympics?
I have only been involved in Special Olympics for 5 months!
How were you first introduced to the movement?
I was first introduced to the movement through volunteering at Fun Fitness in Toronto as a Kinesiology student!
How has being involved with Special Olympics impacted your life?
I have enjoyed every moment of being involved with Special Olympics Team Canada! It has had such a positive impact on my life, even in such a short time I have been involved. All the athletes, coaches, staff and volunteers are truly amazing people!
What is your favourite part about your role on the team?
So far, my favourite part of being on the team has been helping to organizing the training camps in Calgary and Quebec. It is so amazing to see the team come together, the friendships people are making and how much athletes are improving in the field of play!
What is your proudest moment with Special Olympics?
My proudest moment was at the second training camp when the whole team came together to do the Canada chant. It was fantastic to see the excitement and enthusiasm of everyone involved. It was really a WOW moment, where I sat back and reflected how proud everyone is to be representing Canada.
What does being a part of Special Olympics Team Canada mean to you and what is your goal for Turin?
My goal is to make sure all the athletes and coaches on my team are well supported and have fun!
What would you say to someone who is considering volunteering with Special Olympics?
Get involved it’s FANTASTIC!
