How long have you been involved with Special Olympics?

24 years.

How did you first get involved with Special Olympics and how has it changed your life?

I got involved in special Olympics through a friend who was in softball and she told me to come out and watch her play. I did, and that’s how I got involved. Since then I have learned a lot, like I can travel and do things independently.

What is a challenge or barrier that you have overcome?

Travelling with a team was hard at first. Now I travel with my team around Alberta!

What has been your favourite memory with Special Olympics?

Meeting new friends and getting to travel are my favourite memories.

What does being part of Special Olympics Team Canada mean to you and what is your goal for Turin?

It means having fun getting to travel outside of Canada! And making friends with people from other countries. My goal is to try my best to get a medal.

What would you say to someone thinking of getting involved in Special Olympics?

Do it. It is a great way to play sports and get to meet new friends!
