How long have you been involved with Special Olympics?

I have been a Special Olympics athlete for 9 years.

How did you first get involved with Special Olympics and how has it changed your life?

I started skiing with the team. I was also in rhythmic gymnastics. I have met many friends through Special Olympics.

What is a challenge or barrier that you have overcome?

I used to be afraid to try new things and now I’m not. I got confidence from my teammates.

What has been your favourite memory with Special Olympics?

My proudest moment was winning medals at the national games.

What has participating in Special Olympics taught you?

I have learned it takes hard work and practice to achieve my goals.

What does being part of Special Olympics Team Canada mean to you and what is your goal for Turin?

it is such an honour, and my goal is to make new friends from other countries.

What do you want people to know about athletes with intellectual and developmental disabilities?

We are unique and don't judge till you get to know us.

What would you say to someone thinking of getting involved in Special Olympics?

Do not be afraid. Do it!!
