How long have you been involved with Special Olympics?

I started coaching with Special Olympics in 1999 and am now part of the Medical Team.

How were you first introduced to the movement and what got you hooked?

I was first introduced to Special Olympics as a competitive swimmer when Special Olympics athletes would train with us. I was hooked by the athletes amazing attitude and sportsmanship (and dance moves!).

How has being involved with Special Olympics impacted your life?

Special Olympics has been a positive and ongoing force in my life. It is a movement that provides continuous optimism and inspiration.

What is your favourite part about your role on the team?

I love being able to interact with the athletes on a regular basis and help them through any injuries or illnesses.

What is your proudest moment with Special Olympics?

I can't pick just one!

What does being a part of Special Olympics Team Canada mean to you and what is your goal for Turin?

It is an honour to be able to go to Turin in the role of Medical Lead to take care of our team. My goal for Turin is to be keep the team happy and healthy!

What unique skills or experiences do you bring to your role as a coach, mission staff or team leadership and what drives you to support and inspire the athletes every day?

I bring positivity, enthusiasm and an endless supply of cheering! The athletes constantly inspire me!

What would you say to someone who is considering volunteering with Special Olympics?

That it will be one of the best decisions you'll ever make and will have an everlasting positive impact on your life.
