How long have you been involved with Special Olympics?

7 years.

How did you first get involved with Special Olympics and how has it changed your life?

My skating coach encouraged me to participate. It has changed my life because I have been able to compete and win gold medals.

What is a challenge or barrier that you have overcome?

I couldn't walk until I was 2 ½ years old. Some things may still take me longer to learn, but I can do hard things when I decide I want to.

What has been your favourite memory with Special Olympics?

I am very proud of the gold medals I have won.

What has participating in Special Olympics taught you?

Special Olympics has taught me to always do my best in sports and in life.

What does being part of Special Olympics Team Canada mean to you and what is your goal for Turin?

I am very happy to be on Special Olympics Team Canada. My goal is to skate my best and win a gold medal.

What do you want people to know about athletes with intellectual and developmental disabilities?

Some people think that people with autism don't have empathy. I want them to know that I do. I like to support my skating friends.

What would you say to someone thinking of getting involved in Special Olympics?

Do your best. Special Olympics is fun.
