How long have you been involved with Special Olympics?

16 years.

How did you first get involved with Special Olympics and how has it changed your life?

My parents found out about Special Olympics and registered me into the programs. Special Olympics has given me the ability to participate in sports and extend my social community.

What is a challenge or barrier that you have overcome?

People said I would not be able to do things… but I just went and did them.

What has been your favourite memory with Special Olympics?

My favourite memory is winning gold in the 200 m snowshoe at the Special Olympics Canada Winter Games Calgary 2024.

What has participating in Special Olympics taught you?

I have learned that practicing makes you better at what you are doing.

What does being part of Special Olympics Team Canada mean to you and what is your goal for Turin?

It means I'm going to Italy with my friend and teammate, Jennifer! My goal is to have fun and win medals.

What do you want people to know about athletes with intellectual and developmental disabilities?

People should understand that we can do more than they realize.

What would you say to someone thinking of getting involved in Special Olympics?

Join a program. You will have fun and make lots of friends!
