How long have you been involved with Special Olympics?
More than 15 years.
How did you first get involved with Special Olympics and how has it changed your life?
I first learned about Special Olympics through my teacher in school. Special Olympics has helped me to become more independent, build my confidence, make new friends, and enjoy many different sports.
What is a challenge or barrier that you have overcome?
Self-confidence. Through participation, I have learned to keep trying and put in efforts every time.
What has been your favourite memory with Special Olympics?
My favorite memory was in alpine skiing when I did not miss a gate during competition!
What has participating in Special Olympics taught you?
Special Olympics has taught me that if I put in my best efforts, I will earn good results.
What does being part of Special Olympics Team Canada mean to you and what is your goal for Turin?
It means the 'World' to me and it is my honour to be a representative of Canada. My goal is do my very best and have fun.
What do you want people to know about athletes with intellectual and developmental disabilities?
I want people to know that athletes of all abilities can enjoy sports and achieve amazing results.
What would you say to someone thinking of getting involved in Special Olympics?
If you don't give Special Olympics a try, you will never know what you are really interested in, and good at!
